Toryukan

The room had its own hot spring and a beautiful snowy view, so we had a peaceful stay with plenty of privacy. Dinner was traditional Japanese food with really good flavors, and the woman who served our table was kind and helpful. We booked on the hotel's official website. It's less than ten minutes by taxi from Ouchi-juku, and they offer pickup to and from Shin-Shirakawa JR Station. You can arrange it by emailing the hotel. Staff replied quickly and checked whether we had any food allergies, which left a very good impression. Booking online was easy, and some staff speak English, so this seems like a good option for visitors to Ouchi-juku from abroad.

The onsen in the room was a real treat, and there's a larger one too. Both dinner and breakfast had lots of delicious dishes, enough to leave you satisfied and amazed. The hosts were very accommodating and worked hard to make the stay memorable. It's an elegant, old-style Ryokan Hotel, and well worth the drive.

We're back for a second stay, and it's still quiet and relaxing, with a lovely view from the window. Okami-san and the staff, thanks so much for looking after us. We'll come back!

The food was amazing, and I loved the outdoor onsen. The staff were very polite and helpful too. Really nice ryokan, definitely recommend it, though the price can be high.
