That beer after a hot spring bath tasted so good. We have our own bath in the room, plus two roomy private baths to choose from. After walking around Ouchi-juku, we've been having a great time soaking in the hot springs.

I came by myself, and this place was much better than I expected from a guesthouse. The building is very clean, and the food was incredible. The local vegetables were so good, especially the asparagus and tomatoes. The clay-pot rice was a rare local koshihikari and delicious, and the sake was local Fukushima sake. Both were excellent. I used to brew sake at Eiheiji Temple in Fukui until recently, so I know the quality well. The hot spring comes straight from the source. It's clear and colorless, at 58°C, with both a cypress bath and a rock bath. It can fit up to four people and is open all day and night. This is my honest first impression, and I'd say you should come and try the food. Yunokami Onsen Station is about a 1 km walk away, so it's not far, but watch out on the sidewalks since quite a few cars pass. Groups of up to three need to reserve. If you're staying overnight at Yunokami Onsen, I highly recommend it. No reservation needed. I've attached a photo.

The food was a real highlight: local cooking with mountain vegetables, pot-cooked rice, horse sashimi, and Fukushima beef teppanyaki. The ingredients weren't especially luxurious, but we enjoyed everything. Pairing it with local sake was a pleasure, and I highly recommend the owner's handwritten Tasting Set. This century-old inn looks like an ordinary old house from outside, but inside it's been renovated in a way that blends old and new. Care has gone into the guest rooms, dining room, entrance furniture, and even the small items. The owner and staff were thoughtful throughout. We came on a snowy day, and they cleared snow nearby and off guests' cars in the morning. The heating probably can't be run as strongly as in modern sealed buildings, but they put hot water bottles in our futons, and we slept warmly. There are two kinds of baths, both bookable for private family use. The cypress bath was spacious and relaxing. I was also surprised to find Aesop body care products and shampoos there. You can pay by card or barcode. It's a bit of a walk from Yunokami Onsen Station, though they apparently have a shuttle. With few rooms, it was quiet, and it felt like a once-in-a-lifetime stay. I'll definitely return someday.

The owner's quiet manner came with so much thoughtfulness and heartfelt hospitality. I'd love to visit again. The room and hot springs were fantastic, and the food really lived up to what other reviews said. Kozuyu was new to me. It had a simple, refined taste, and everything on the menu was delicious. A truly wonderful inn.

The food was the best part for me and my wife on our Fukushima trip. They used lots of local ingredients, and the meals were high quality, tasty, and beautifully presented. The inn and rooms are said to be 100 years old, but the inside has a modern, stylish renovation that still makes use of the original structure. The sturdy beams and pillars are lovely to see. We visited in the cold season, and my wife was touched to find a hot water bottle in the futon. They really pay attention to details. There are cypress and rock baths, both for private use only. Since there aren't many guests at once, we could relax in a private bath. The water was a little hot, but the spring quality was excellent and felt wonderful. The staff were very kind and helpful. When we checked out, they'd cleared around 20 cm of overnight snow off our car, which we really appreciated. I don't think many inns offer this level of service for the price. If I visit Fukushima again, I'd definitely stay here.
