I stayed alone on a weekday for business, and would definitely come back. It’s within walking distance of Shimonoseki Station, with restaurants nearby and a commercial complex in front of the station, so meals and other errands are convenient. The hotel has parking beside it, but spaces are limited and need to be reserved in advance. The room layout feels old, though it seems to have been renovated and was clean. I also liked that there were several plans for business travelers. The nearby bar district felt a little rundown.

The room feels very Showa-era. It’s bright yellow with cigarette tar, and the old-fashioned unit bathroom is quite hard to use.

The room had a retro feel, much like the Showa-era atmosphere you can see from outside. I arrived quite late after taking the last train on a July three-day weekend solo trip, and the front desk staff were very kind, which put me at ease. It’s perfectly adequate if you just need somewhere to sleep.

The location is excellent, and the price is great for what you get. The facilities are a bit old, but I think it’s worth staying here. The walls may be thin, since I sometimes hear voices and snoring from next door.

The room smelled terrible, and the front desk staff were very unpleasant. I had a stressful stay despite what I paid. I’d recommend sleeping in your car instead. I’ll never stay here again.
