Ichinomata Onsen Kanko Hotel

The onsen is marvelous.

The staff were all polite, and I had a pleasant stay. They had an available room and upgraded me, so I got to enjoy a nice one. The hot spring water was thick, and I really enjoyed the bath. Breakfast's egg on rice was even better than I expected, so if you've got room, it's well worth having. You can buy the special soy sauce for it at the hotel, and since nearby shops don't carry it, I'd get it there. Next time I'd like to visit during firefly season.

The staff were so kind that I felt comfortable bringing our newborn, and they also provided a Bumbo (styrofoam) and a diaper bin. The doorman was very polite, took family photos and had lots of kind words, which made me glad we chose this hotel. We stayed one weekday night with our newborn, and the 30,000 yen price for dinner and breakfast was surprisingly reasonable. We also got a 1,000 yen voucher per person for the convenience store and other places. Since you can only get here by car or the station shuttle bus, we felt it was a great deal. The building is a little dated, though that makes sense given its history. We'd planned to eat dinner in our room so our noisy children wouldn't disturb others. Since it was a weekday with rooms available, they instead gave us a spacious tatami room separate from our guest room, which was very helpful. The sashimi, abalone and pufferfish were all delicious. The hot spring, waterfall bath and jacuzzi were excellent, and we also enjoyed the sauna, which was open until 11:00 PM. The cold plunge was ice cold, just how I like it. Locking valuables in a locker costs 100 yen, so it's best to leave them in your room and leave the room key at the front desk. Breakfast was a typical Japanese spread: all-you-can-eat white rice, miso soup, raw eggs, seaweed, natto, furikake and more.
