Club Med Tomamu Resort Hokkaido

The circus and Mini Club teams made the trip extra fun, so a special thanks to them. Everyone around the resort was warm and energetic, and the service and greetings were lovely throughout. It was our first Club Med stay and we had a great time. There was a huge choice of food and drinks, and the whole place had a relaxed feel. We're already thinking about coming back to Club Med Tomamu. Thanks to the whole team!

The staff were nice and helpful, but this resort didn't suit me. It felt aimed at families with children, and kids were constantly running around the dining area without supervision. There wasn't much adult entertainment either. The lobby music and music elsewhere was far too loud, and to my taste it sounded like 20-year-old euro nightclub tracks. The parking was ridiculous, with a walk of over 500 metres across loose stones and no cover. What really prompted this review was the circus show. It was pretty good and clearly aimed at young children, but afterward the general manager stood on the bar with very loud club music, yelling “shots, shots, shots” to lead the crowd while staff waved glow sticks. It was very cringeworthy and inappropriate, especially with children there. The place felt like somewhere kids were just left to run wild.

A couple of things could be better. For what we pay, the meat and seafood could be fresher and higher quality, even though the cooking itself is great. The walk from the ski departure area to the training area was also long and treacherous in the icy conditions we encountered. Maybe a shorter route could be built. The staff deserve a big thank you. I don't know how they kept their energy and smiles up all day, but they never showed signs of tiring. Ryan, the assistant technical manager from Philippines, defrosted my car with a great attitude. Maggie from China in the ski shop made looking for ski goggles much easier with her friendliness and lovely smile. And Logan the GM made every evening pleasant.

My kids loved the kids club, and the evening entertainment was really good too. It was hard to leave, and we'd love to come back. Everyone at the resort was wonderful and so warm. A special mention for habibi at the bar, who surprised me with cocktails that weren't on the menu. And ski instructor Chris B from Goulburn AU was amazing. He explained things clearly in manageable chunks, so I didn't feel overwhelmed and actually enjoyed skiing. My group kept asking for him, so we had him for 4-5 days in a row. He got to know us, which made it easy to pick up where we'd left off each day.
