Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Tomamu

We had a great five-night family vacation at The Tower Tomamu in mid-February, despite feeling a little nervous after reading some negative reviews online. It didn't get very crowded while we were there. The kids enjoyed sledding, the rubber raft, and banana boat, and the Nipo chairlift was excellent for their first time snowboarding. We also had a great private lesson in English. We only ate breakfast at Nininpuri, which was good but repetitive. We tried almost all the on-site restaurants, including Hotalu St and Foresta Mall. They were good, if a little pricey. Our room was very clean, though it was showing its age, and management might want to address that before it becomes a hazard. We had a great view of the slopes. With some planning around activity times, this is an awesome family resort.

My child's comfort hat meant so much to us. Their grandmother hand-crocheted it when they were born, and it had been with my child for twelve years. During our stay, the team searched through hundreds of freshly changed bed linens and found it in a remarkably short time. We were deeply touched by the patience, dedication, and genuine care everyone showed in helping recover something irreplaceable to our family. Please pass along our heartfelt thanks to every colleague involved. Their kindness and commitment made a lasting impression, and we'll remember this with great gratitude.

❤️ Risonaire is simply amazing. The rooms are well equipped, with a jacuzzi and sauna, and the beds were really comfortable. The restaurants offered plenty of choice and everything we ate was delicious. The buffet was the best, though the ramen 🍜 at the resort centre deserves a mention too. We loved the Nipo chair runs, and ski in ski out was a special perk. The skiing was so well maintained, and all the staff were wonderful and consistently polite. Our ski instructor Bow san deserves a big shout out. We started as complete beginners, but after one two hour lesson we were making turns and felt confident enough to take it all on. arigatōgozaimasu. We'll be back.

The only downside was needing to go back to the Tower to ski, which meant relying on the shuttle bus. Otherwise, RISONARE felt like a peaceful retreat every time we returned. Our earlier Tower stay felt crowded, packed with tourists, and more like a budget camp, without the same service or atmosphere. RISONARE Tomamu gave us a proper resort experience, with a calm, spacious, well managed feel from arrival. Help with luggage and well-stocked toiletries made a real difference, especially with a family. It was also genuinely easy with young children: we could borrow a stroller, cot, kids’ stool, and child toilet seats, all readily available and well maintained. Those useful touches meant we didn't need to bring bulky things. For attentive service and a premium feel, Risonare is well worth it.
