White House

After a long road trip, we needed somewhere to sleep and chose this place at random. It turned out to be a great choice. The host welcomed us with a big smile and explained the activities in the area. They're one of the nicest people I've met in Japan. The location isn't very close to any attractions, so getting around to some places might be difficult without a private car.

The hotel was so comfortable and cozy, with roomy, comfortable rooms and a really good heater. There's a big shared area with a microwave, kettle, and prep space. I've been to Japan four times, and this was the first time we truly experienced Japanese hospitality. Takashi-san was incredibly kind, helped arrange everything, and even drove us to the station. I can't thank him enough. There was nothing wrong with this hotel. We'll be back.

My son and I loved our 2024 stay at White House. Takashi, the owner and host, was attentive and hospitable, and I was impressed that he speaks decent Chinese and English as well as native Japanese. The room was cozy, with comfortable beds, and the shared bathrooms were clean. White House is less than 10 min from the ski resort, with buses at 7:20am and 8:40am to reach the slopes on time. The shared dining room was a great place to unwind, have late night snacks like beer and instant noodles, or chat with other guests. For 500 yen, breakfast of toast and coffee was enough to fuel the day. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance in the village. For a lowkey ski trip to Tomamu, I highly recommend White House. And really, why miss a chance to stay at White House, whatever your political spectrum? :-)

A nice little B&B with a friendly owner. There's a shared area on the first floor, plus common bathrooms and individual showers. Shinta, a very good Japanese restaurant, is within walking distance.
