You can catch a beautiful sunset sinking into the horizon in the evening, though the sunrise isn’t visible in the morning. On weekdays, the parking lot at Cape Ashizuri isn’t crowded. If you’re staying overnight without meals, bring your own food or check out the nearby restaurants. The bath is small, but you can boil water yourself.
It’s a simple, generally clean hotel, and I could see the sunrise from my room. The hallway has air conditioning, so it was warm even in winter. You can walk to Cape Ashizuri, and guests can go out from 6 AM to 10 PM. There’s no elevator, so be ready to take the stairs. Thank you.
The service was very polite, and I’d stay here again if I had the chance. Everything from the entrance and dining room to the bath, private room, washroom, and toilet was clean and comfortable. The food was delicious, dish by dish. Laying out the futons was self-service, which meant I didn’t have to worry about others. The men’s toilet on the second floor was Japanese-style. The vending machines inside had a limited drink selection, but there were others nearby, so it wasn’t a problem. I stayed here as part of my pilgrimage.
Our family of three spent New Year’s Eve here, about a 10-minute walk from Cape Ashizuri Lighthouse. The location was great for seeing both the year’s last sunset and its first sunrise. We booked a room-only stay since there was no meal plan available. The room was clean, the view from the window was great, and we were very satisfied.
The information from the owner is incorrect. The restaurant in front of Temple 38 closes at 3:00 PM, so you need to prepare food and drinks in advance. The hotel no longer serves meals.
