The hotel and bathhouse sit on a hillside facing the ocean, and the unusual design seems to give most rooms a decent view. The bathhouse is decent, and the rooms are quite nice, but they have hard floors, neither carpet nor tatami. There’s also a gap under the door, so sounds carry easily. A few small changes could make this a great hotel. Guests can’t get in before 3 pm because the doors are locked and the lobby is inaccessible, which feels odd. The restaurant seems upscale and requires reservations, although there are very few other places to eat nearby, so that setup feels unnecessary. The soaps and scents are lovely, and it’s a missed chance that they aren’t sold in the gift shop.

The staff were wonderful, easily five out of five. I had a pleasant stay, and this seems to be the most modern-looking hotel in the area, where there isn’t much competition. With some small fixes, it could be great. It looks as if modernization is underway. The lobby and dining areas feel updated, while other parts clearly need renovation and fresh paint. The Onsen and spa were enjoyable, though they also need updating and have a lot of potential. Our room had no TV, which was fine, and the internet didn’t work, which was also manageable because we had cellular service. There was a huge outdoor balcony with a table but no chairs. A few seats would make it a nice place for evening drinks and stargazing. Dinner was pleasant but a little small, with a Japanese-French fusion style. Guests sit at round tables separated by curtains, presumably for privacy. Some people will like that; others might prefer a livelier restaurant. The hotel is large enough to offer both kinds of dining. Breakfast was more disappointing: we got brown paper bags with mini bentos inside. I think a traditional breakfast service would work better.

The Onsen and spa are beautiful. Admission is 750¥. Just note that the bath closes each morning from 9:00 to 12:00.

A nice, clean Onsen, though it’s a bit small. There are no bubble jets, but you do get a hot and cold bath, plus a sauna. The outdoor view is pleasant, nothing special.

I had a very nice stay. The ocean view was great, the staff attentive, and everything clean. The Onsen looks out onto the scenery. Dinner was billed as “French,” though it wasn’t really French, more of a very tasty Japanese-French mix.
