Ashizuri Kokusai Hotel

The star viewing on the rooftop was a highlight. A staff guide pointed out Jupiter and Orion’s Belt, and the free morning walk to Hakusan natural arch was a lovely start to the day. I’d book the 7:30 breakfast afterward so you can get back in time for the local set meal. Our sixth-floor room faced the sea and had six futons, even though there were only two of us. It felt cozy and authentic, with yukata and hot green tea. While we ate dinner downstairs, staff came in to lay out the futons. Japanese beds are usually too hard for me, but I slept well on these, and you can add futons underneath for a softer feel. The lower-floor Onsen was great too, and not crowded. The location near Hakusan arch and Kongo temple, the friendly service, and free parking right outside the entrance were all wonderful. The local kaiseiki dinner and breakfast were delicious. As a foreign tourist visiting Ehime for the first time, this was the best hotel I’ve stayed at by far. I only wish we’d stayed longer than two nights. It is expensive, though. Stay at least two nights if you can, relax, and enjoy the Onsen and nature. I’m sure you’ll wish you had more time here.
