Petit Hotel Gracey Tomamu

I only had one night because of my schedule, and wished I could have stayed longer. Dinner and breakfast were both wonderful. The foreign staff members were so kind, and that made me feel great.

We stayed in a decent cottage house in a room for three. The nearest convenience store is about a 20-minute drive away, so it's a good idea to buy drinks and snacks before you check in.

The room was spacious for the two of us, and we had a quiet place to lay our heads at night. The extra-charge meal served on site was tasty, and you can sit by a fireplace in the dining area. The meal was advertised as all-you-can-eat, though, and definitely wasn't. We chose Hotel Gracey/Graysee for its free shuttle since we came to Tomamu to ski, but messages sent across several platforms three days before arrival, two days before, and on the day itself got no response. We ended up hiring a car to reach the property. Our non-smoking room smelled, the loft beds had been used by previous guests and not changed, and the heating was off, so the room was cold. At 9 pm the lights go off, leaving you to find your way along long corridors in the dark. For the price, it also felt poor value to have a bag of fresh linen left at the door for us to change ourselves. They seemed to put more effort into selling a 10kg bag of potatoes than answering our concerns about the room. We had few accommodation options left for our Tomamu trip and now wish we'd paid a bit more to stay elsewhere. They don't offer flexible cancellation or booking changes, so be careful not to commit before looking around.

Petit Hotel Gracy Tomamu has a cozy, rustic feel, almost like a European countryside stay, and the free parking was useful. It's a short drive from the Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU ski area. I stayed in a Cottage Family room from December 17 to 19, Room Type: 1 X Cottage Family (18 m²/194 ft² | Non-smoking | 2 single beds and 5 futons). Winter brought several hassles. There was no Wi-Fi, and the toilet seat was cold, with no bidet seat. Snow around the hotel and on the paths wasn't cleared promptly. Guests ended up helping each other push stuck cars, and the thick snow made it hard to get luggage to the rooms. The room was dim and could use more lighting. There aren't convenience shops nearby, so stock up before checking in, and there are no restaurants in the vicinity. Taller guests may also find the upper level of the cottage room uncomfortably low. It's a charming place with some clear drawbacks, especially in winter. The cold toilet seat, lack of Wi-Fi, and snow maintenance need attention.
