Really nice experience. The hosts were lovely and helpful!
After skiing at Kurohime Kogen, we stayed the night in a warm cottage. I was worn out but slept well, and I was glad our dog could settle down and relax too. I'd like to come back next year.
It's reasonably priced and lets you stay with your dog, with a nice log-cabin feel. Finding the place is very difficult, though. The room gets hot from the heat of the light bulbs, and the futon mattresses are so thin that sleeping on the floor hurt my back and kept me from sleeping. I think it can be a good inn if you don't expect much comfort and can accept those drawbacks.
I couldn't sleep in the cottage at all. It was freezing cold in November, and there were about 20-30 stink bugs all over the room: ceiling, floor, walls, even where I was sleeping. Bugs everywhere, seriously. I nearly cried. It was so gross that I left and slept in the car, where I was freezing. My partner, tired from driving, apparently slept soundly. That's just my own experience, but I hope it helps someone. The owner was nice, but something really needs to be done about the bugs. I can understand spiders, but stink bugs are pests. One or two might be okay, but surely something like a bug bomb could help. Other people have mentioned this too, so please improve it. If you're scared of bugs, you should probably avoid the place.
I expected a campsite bungalow, but was surprised to find a magnificent cottage. The owner, I think, came over as soon as we arrived in the parking lot, gave us clear directions, and took payment then and there. At checkout, you just drop the key in a mailbox. There isn't a kitchen, but there's a unit bath, microwave, fridge, and bedding. No air conditioning either, so evenings were hot with just a fan, then the breeze through the window made it almost too cold at night. A few insects had come inside because it's in the woods, but they didn't bite and weren't an issue. The one thing that bothered me was a large dog barking, brought by the family next door. I really liked the place and would use it again.
