Pension Shofusha

Steve, Joelene, and the boys went above and beyond to get our lift tickets, transport, and restaurant plans sorted for the week. The lodge was spacious and comfortable, and felt like home. Every bedroom had its own bathroom, the beds were extremely comfortable after skiing, and the kitchen and open fireplace were highlights. We’ve skied in Japan before, but felt Tangram and Madaroa made a perfect mix of family-friendly runs and challenging off-piste skiing. Food at both resorts suited different preferences and showed off Japanese food exceptionally well. We couldn’t recommend Shofusha Lodge more highly. We’ll be back. Thank you for giving us the week of a lifetime!

We were three families, 14 people in all, and Shofusha Lodge was just right for our eight-night stay in Tangram. The house was warm, spacious, and comfortable, with everything we needed. Tangram and Madarao were excellent local ski resorts, and several more were within a 30-minute drive. Thanks to Steve and Jolene for hosting us. We’d love to come back.

After long days on the slopes, it was lovely to relax in the comfortable spaces at Shofusha Lodge. It was quiet, clean, cozy, and felt very homely, with all the amenities we needed for our snowboarding trip. A fantastic stay, and it really felt like a getaway.

We spent nine days and eight nights at Shofusah, and the cozy, clean, spacious lodge had all the amenities we needed. The small onsen room made the stay feel extra special, and we enjoyed having a hot pot night there. We ran into a few unexpected problems, including a car accident and getting our car stuck in the snow. The host was responsive and helped us promptly each time. He quickly answered our questions about ski passes, house maintenance, and other things. He lives just five minutes from the lodge, so it was convenient to reach him whenever we needed help.
