Yunokaze HAZU

The onsens are perfect for relaxing and recovering, and the staff are super friendly. It’s a wonderful location, with great value for the price. The place is a bit old, but that gives it some charm. Just great, and I’d highly recommend staying here.

The service was good, and the food was delicious. My room was clean, though a little old.

The view was fantastic, with birds and the sound of water to wake up to. I also tried the outdoor bath one freezing December evening. The water was so warm and relaxing that I barely noticed the chill when I got out to dry off. The place was very clean, and the food was delicious, served as lots of small dishes. Staff were really nice. Nobody spoke English when I arrived, and I think they don’t often have many foreign guests, but they did their best. By dinner, they had a Japanese menu and another version translated into my native language, Swedish. It wasn’t a perfect translation, but I could work out what everything was and how to eat it. There was a traditional Yukata in my room to wear around the premises, plus a vest in the closet for a bit of extra warmth. The rooms and bathroom were the one downside, as they showed signs of wear and could use an overhaul. If red water comes out when you turn on the faucet, don’t be alarmed. It’s said to be because the local water is rich in iron, which gives it its natural healing powers.

The reception staff showed good hospitality, and the hotel welcomes people staying on their own at a reasonable price. Meals combine Japanese and Western styles, and the taste was surprisingly great. The view from the Onsen bathtub is fantastic.
