The rooms were clean and very nice, and my girlfriend and I enjoyed the different baths and their health benefits. The staff were kind, patient, and helpful when explaining how things worked. But we had a really upsetting experience with other bathers. Men and women in the baths seemed to react to us as foreigners: when one of us entered, people would turn around and go to another bath. Within 30 seconds of me leaving one, a dozen Japanese men came in. It felt like they didn't want to share the water with a foreigner. My girlfriend got dirty looks and stares from women, who moved away when she entered and often got out right away, looking at her and laughing among themselves. We did nothing to bother or offend anyone, and we have no piercings, tattoos, or anything else offensive. It's a shame to encounter this kind of xenophobic and racist behavior in 2026, especially when visitors are spending a lot of money and contributing to the economy. I know this isn't the hotel's fault, but it was a major issue for us at the resort.

This is an onsen hotel with restaurants on the property. You pay for your stay at check-in, and any extra services you use are added electronically. The hot spring is open around the clock. There are several pools in the women's area; nothing particularly special, but adequate. The hotel is a few kilometers from downtown Shiojiri and Matsumoto.

I liked that everything I needed was available inside the hotel, and the facilities were great. The staff were kind and helped with my questions and requests throughout the day.

I've visited several times. They say tattoos aren't allowed, and while most places let you in anyway, this one doesn't. They still ask you to leave even if you try to cover them, and there's no refund. This establishment feels stuck in the past, and I don't think it deserves to get future customers.

The lounge wear has a retro feel, kind of Dassai, and there's classical music under bright white fluorescent lights. The baths, though, are really fun, and you can spend most of the day in them. Lots of food options too. They have tasty fish, not pictured here, and a strange lotus flower tempura.
