Dormitory Sandanya Guesthouse

This was one of our best stays, and I wish we’d booked longer. The three-bedroom house was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. After a supermarket trip, we had everything we needed for meals and drinks, and the place was easy to settle into like a home. Bedrooms are upstairs; the bath, kitchen and living and dining areas are downstairs. The location is especially handy for geological sights, right by the entrance to Sandanbeki Cliff and within walking distance of Shenjojiki Rock Plateau.

The little things made it feel like home. We had some tasty cup ramen sold at the front, which was helpful since so few restaurants in the area were open at night. I’ll probably remember our meal of French Babybel cheese with local Wakayama beer made with 🍊 most of all. Maybe we’ll come back sometime.

The owner was so kind and helpful, and don’t miss the ice cream here. Sandanya guesthouse is almost 90 years old, with a Japanese feel to it. We stayed three nights and would definitely come back someday.

I loved the traditional Japanese-style room. It was very clean, the service was perfect, and the view was only a three-minute walk away. Thanks again to the owner and the lady for their help. I’d love to return next year.
