There’s free parking with plenty of space, even when the hotel is busy, plus unlimited self-service coffee in the lobby. The coin laundry with dryers was clean, inexpensive, and quiet. Breakfast had a big range of Japanese and Western foods, including options suitable for vegans. The hot spring was uncrowded and open for long hours. It’s a good example of newer budget hotels that still have an onsen and take breakfast seriously.

It’s a spotless Japanese business hotel that opened brand new in 2023. It’s a little out of the way, but well worth the 4ams from the station.

The breakfast felt more homemade than the one at the XX Inn where I usually stay, and the staff greeted me with a bright smile that put me in a good mood. This beautiful hotel is only three years old, with a spacious lobby, clean rooms, and hot springs where we could relax. After I visited a grave in the rain, the front desk staff noticed my clothes were wet, lent me a towel, and even gave me coins for drinks as part of their eco-cleaning program. One thing I’ll factor into my next trip is the hassle and cost of calling a taxi every time I went out to eat while using the JR line. I’ll choose Route Inn Shunan again instead of hotels near Tokuyama Station.
