The hosts were kind and went out of their way to help me find and book my next accommodation. That took a few phone calls and Japanese beyond what I can manage, so I really appreciated it. The view is amazing, and the location is very convenient. There are lots of steps up to the property, so hills, stairs, or carrying luggage could be a problem. I'd stay again.

By far my worst experience. The owner opened my room door without asking, and there was loud talking early in the morning. Towels, toothbrushes, and cups aren't provided, so taking a shower is practically impossible unless you bring your own towel. You're also required to check in before 19:00 and can't stay in the house between 9:00 and 16:00. What a ridiculous rule.

The living area was clean, and there was a small shared kitchen and a nice terrace view. The owners were very hospitable. I loved this guest house and will definitely stay again.

The host was really nice and helped me even though I don't know Japanese. The place is within walking distance of Kumi suwa station and suwa lake. There's a curfew at 23:00, though I doubt you'd be out much later since there's not much to do in the city after dinner. A single night in single accommodation cost 3500 yen, including heating. You have to set up your own bed and put it away afterward. There are lockers for valuables and plenty of wardrobe space in the room, and WiFi is available. I'd recommend it only for solo travelers on a tight budget.
