It was freezing outside, so I said I was heading home and started to leave. Then she knocked on the glass and called me back. When I turned, she just looked at me and said, “Be careful on your way home.” I’d heard rumors and stopped by thinking I might stay, but the place seemed closed. The lights were on, though it didn’t look open from outside, and I heard a loud bang inside. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but wondered if it was meant to be closed. After a while, a girl peeked out from inside. She didn’t come outside, just asked, “Where did the previous owner go?” I didn’t know either.

The front desk staff are excellent and the service is wonderful. With a renovation, this place could be perfect. As it is, though, the price is incredibly high for what you get. I thought it might make more sense to stay closer in Sakai and commute. This was my second business trip stay, after last year. The twin bathroom with the toilet is very small, and the big step between the bathroom and shower room was a serious problem. My companion even hurt their back on it. The layout feels completely out of touch with accessibility today, making it unsuitable for older guests, people with health problems, or anyone with disabilities. There’s a lot of room space, but the TV is tiny, about computer-screen size, and there’s no BS channel. For some reason the complimentary drink is orange juice. I’d have preferred water. I stayed several nights and used the washing machine, which was old and dirty, and there’s only one microwave. It’s also questionable that only the men’s rooms have a separate bath. There are absolutely no convenience stores nearby. You’d need to walk several kilometers along the national highway, or go to the area in front of the station. If you’re staying overnight, buy what you need before arriving. There’s no Doutor or McDonald's nearby either. Apparently this is a famous hotel for its zashiki-warashi, or house spirit. I’d rather see it renovated before hearing more zashiki-warashi stories.

The room was spotless and tidy, with everything we needed thoughtfully provided. The innkeepers were clearly considerate, and breakfast was delicious 😋 The innkeeper also has a Standard Poodle 🐩, so large dogs are welcome. Just bring a crate. I’ll definitely stay here again!
