We were glad we picked Hotel Route Inn Takaoka Ekimae. Takaoka Station is right next door, and the hotel was clean with a welcoming feel. The breakfast had plenty to choose from, mostly Japanese dishes but with other options too. We also enjoyed the bath area, split into men’s and women’s sections, which felt like a traditional Japanese onsen and was included in the room price. Check-in starts at 3:00 PM, but we could leave our bags at reception beforehand. The receptionist spoke little English, though a translation app made things easy. Madam Siga was especially kind. When she heard it was our friend’s birthday, the hotel left a greeting in the room along with some tasty chocolates. It was a small gesture that meant a lot to our friend. Thanks to Madam Siga and the rest of the staff for a lovely stay. We’d happily recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Takaoka.

A really good deal, and it’s an easy walk to the Big Buddha, under 10 minutes. Takaoka Station is very close too. The rooms were clean and nice, the onsen was good, and the staff were so kind and helpful. Thank you!

My boxy multipurpose van usually can’t go into automatic parking towers, but I could park it at this hotel. It’s new and a short distance from Takaoka Station. The staff were very kind, and they applied discounts I hadn’t known about, bringing my stay down by about ¥2,000.

They had my name wrong on the reservation, which made checking in difficult. The room Wi-Fi also didn’t work, and I needed it to do some work on my laptop.

It’s definitely small, but for a business trip it has what you need. The traveler hot spring is excellent!
