I liked how the two buildings felt so different. The new one is like a newly built house, and it was cozy enough that I almost forgot it was a guesthouse. The kitchen was easy to use, and the laundry was conveniently close to the back door. I’d recommend staying there. The older building is a guesthouse made from a traditional Japanese house. Its entrance is on the old-house side, which feels a bit like coming home. The first-floor concrete corridor has a fun earthen-floor feel, and the lattice doors are lovely. Upstairs are two Japanese-style rooms where you can relax. If you’re in Takaoka for a few days, it could be fun to use the place as a starting point for exploring town.
I only came to Seer House for one night, but seeing that there was a kitchen made me decide on the spot to cook hot pot.
I liked the charm of the place. It had a lot of character.
