I came at the end of winter, so I imagine it gets lively in summer. The place is right in front of Lake Biwako, where you can play or meditate if you like. There's an open onsen, and the sound of wind moving through the trees makes it feel very calming. A nice place to unwind, with good hospitality and a great location for relaxing.

I paid to use the onsen, but apparently it was too crowded to open the outdoor bath for men. The indoor one I used was crowded too, and felt more like a long, narrow bath.

The garden trees were kept beautifully, and that made me think the place valued open space. From my room, I could see Japanese black pines along the shore and Lake Biwa beyond them. There wasn't much traffic, so it was peaceful and easy to relax. This inn is very well maintained. The room, bathroom, toilet, windows, and every corner were spotlessly clean, which made for a comfortable stay.
