It's a little far from the station, but you can take the shuttle to the hotel or ask the staff to call a taxi if you're carrying heavy bags. The place had a cozy feel, and the staff were friendly and tried to communicate in different languages. The food was delicious and balanced too.

A good stop on a weekend bike ride around Lake Biwa that started in Maibara. I got a hot soak and a comfortable bed, and the staff were friendly and spoke enough English. They had well water, organic local rice, and local sake made purely from rice using that well water.

I stayed in July 2025 and left puzzled by the high ratings. Maybe the owner or manager changed for some reason, and the service has gone downhill. The staff seemed listless, as if they were being made to work, and the customer service felt like the worst. I had brought fireworks, but was told I could only use the ones they sold. They cost about three times the market price, so I gave up. The website said rafting was free. When I asked, they told me not to do it because of the risk of hypothermia. I wondered then whether the water was really that cold, but I think they just didn't want to deal with the process. I also overheard a phone conversation during my stay, and that service sounded terrible too. If you're thinking of staying, I'd suggest contacting them with any concerns. The food was poor. The white rice was the worst I've ever eaten, perhaps because of how it had been stored. I can't eat rice topped with a raw egg at breakfast, so they gave me tofu instead. It was like cheap supermarket tofu, and I don't think it was a good substitute for high-quality eggs. There were spider webs throughout the facility, and I wondered how long it had gone without cleaning. The hose in the shared bath was covered in black mold, so much that I couldn't tell its original color. My room door didn't fit properly and wouldn't close, and the futon in the closet was a mess. It was such a terrible stay that I won't be back.
