We spent two nights here and I wished we’d stayed longer. The guest house is right across from Lake Yamanaka, with an excellent view of Mt Fuji. The peaceful setting was lovely, and the owner worked hard to keep the place clean, warm, and calm. He was such a kind, sweet person. If you want to relax and enjoy nature, this is a great place. On our second night it was pouring, and when he found out we were going to dinner, he offered to drive us. It was still raining afterward, and to our surprise he came back to find us and bring us to the guest house. It was really out of his way, and we appreciated his hospitality.

Niko-san went out of his way to help us, including booking our bus back to Tokyo. He also took time to explain the facilities and recommend nearby places and restaurants. Getting around on the complimentary bicycle helped too. We had a splendid, comfortable stay in this Japanese-style place and enjoyed it so much. Thank you for a wonderful visit :)

I really enjoyed the atmosphere here and only wish I could have stayed longer. Naoki-san, the owner, was very nice, spoke English well, and was always ready to help. The guest house had great amenities and facilities, and made me feel as comfortable as I would in the best hotel. Everything was very clean, with lovely interior and exterior decor. There were free bicycles, a massage chair, and a nice onsen bathroom. I’d definitely stay here again when I come back to Five Lake.

Naoki-san and his family were super nice and helpful. We got a warm welcome and a tour of the guest house. It’s clean and well organized, and they provide a guidebook with pictures pointing out recommended restaurants and places to visit. Cutlery, some consumer products, bicycles, and massage chairs are free to use. So glad we found this lovely traditional Japanese-style house. We’ll definitely come back.
