The owners were warm and welcoming, and they lived in the house too. The living room wall had useful information about places to visit around the city. The house is pretty old, though, and the wooden floors and staircase creak when you walk on them. After 10pm, you need to tread as lightly as possible so you don't wake anyone. Otherwise, everything you need is there.

The owner was a very friendly man who spoke English and recommended nearby restaurants, menu options, and interesting places around town. The hostel is about a 10-minute walk from Takayama Station with luggage. There’s a shared living room and kitchen, with comfortable, clean bedrooms upstairs on the second floor. The futon was warm, though the staircase is a bit narrow. :)

The room was comfortable, and the futon was warm. The owner was friendly and went through the house rules in detail. A few of the rules are strict, but they help keep the house running properly.

It’s a very compact hostel, but it was kept neat and tidy and had the basic facilities. There was a heater in the living area. The kitchen had a microwave, electric kettle, gas stove, and other utensils.
