The bathroom had a severe sewer smell that was hard to tolerate even with the extractor fan running constantly. There was almost no soundproofing either. I could clearly hear everyday noises from the neighboring room, including phone conversations and the television. A private soundproof booth at an internet café would be much quieter. Given the room’s poor condition, I think a fair price would be around ¥3,500 per night at most. I understand there’s limited competition among hotels in this area, which probably prevents real price competition. Honestly, I wouldn’t pay more than ¥8,000 a night under any circumstances.

The room smelled odd and felt really humid. The dryer didn’t dry our laundry at all after an hour. Instead of helping or offering compensation, the staff said that was normal and it takes 2h, even though the machine says 30 min to 1h. They admitted the dryers don’t work well and still did nothing about it.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, so finding somewhere to eat wasn’t a problem. The hotel is within walking distance of Takeo Onsen, and it was quiet during my stay over the New Year holidays. They also have water, ice, vending machines, and manga at the front desk.
