Meals were a highlight, with carefully made dishes using island ingredients like pumpkin, papaya, and winged bean at both breakfast and dinner. I was also glad to find a DeLonghi coffee machine 😊 The room is just 6 tatami mats, but the wooden floor space makes it feel bigger. The new, well-cleaned air conditioner kept it comfortable.

The owner was easy to chat with and really welcoming, and the service was excellent for the price. My room was clean and the shower pressure was just right. I could watch the sunset and hear insects from the room, then wake up to chickens crowing nearby. The food was tasty too. It was a very comfortable stay on my first solo trip to Iriomote Island.

The meals changed during our stay, and you could tell a lot of care went into them. We had whole fish simmered in salt or a sweet and savory sauce each night, along with mozuku tempura, sashimi, jimami tofu, chikuzen-ni, nikujaga, and red rice. The couple running the inn cleaned everything thoroughly despite the building's age. Towels were spotless, the shower pressure was great, and the air and scent inside felt fresh. The service was just as thoughtful: breakfast was moved up to 7:15 AM for Thai guests, and after diving we could get a large mug of draft beer before dinner. There was also space under the eaves to dry our gear. The rainy weather on Iriomote Island brought its own greenery and a warm welcome from the people there. Even with wind and rain, they found a place we could dive. We saw manta rays and schools of barracuda on a relaxed drift dive. Golden Week in May 2026 was fully booked, and after this trip I can see why. The rainy season here is lovely too. I'll be back!

The owners have a warm, familiar way about them that makes it feel like coming back to your hometown. I’ve visited many times and hope to return again. The prices are reasonable, and the food is the best part for me: lots of local ingredients and vegetables, plus fresh fish.
