The Shinra

The dinner service was especially frustrating. They kept pushing alcohol quite aggressively, even though I’d noted in the reservation and repeated that I don’t drink. Staff seemed poorly trained and were never available when needed. Honestly, everything about the service was bad, the worst I’ve had at a ryokan.

The sea views were amazing, and the hotel itself was clean and really nice. We spent 3 days and 2 nights relaxing and exploring the city. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I’d definitely come back.

The food was one of the best parts of our honeymoon, especially breakfast and the dinner menu, both of which I’d strongly recommend. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights. The location and room were fantastic and made for a really relaxing visit. The staff were great too. They didn’t speak English, and we didn’t speak Japanese, but they still took care of everything we needed and went above and beyond.

The hotel has been recently refurbished, and every room feels luxurious, with a private hot spring and an incredible sea view. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. It’s a traditional Japanese hot spring stay, and the price certainly reflects that, but I thought it was totally worth it. The location is quite remote, so rent a car.
