The wall between rooms is thin, so I could hear my neighbour snoring. That was the one downside. The service was warm and left a very good impression. Thanks. Dinner was set for 6:30 PM, with breakfast at 8:00 AM. The food was delicious and there was so much that I couldn't finish it. At around 10,000 yen, I thought it was good value. There was a big selection of alcoholic and soft drinks at dinner, including lots of Western spirits. Parking was free. Toothbrushes and towels were supplied, so all I needed was a change of clothes. They didn't seem to provide pajamas. My room had a TV and air conditioning; the toilet, bath, and fridge were shared. There were plenty of manga and card games to enjoy.

The dinner bar is well worth a visit if you enjoy alcohol. This was my first time at a pension, and even in peak season the food was great for such a reasonable price. Portions were generous, so I'd keep lunch light.

We had comic books, puzzles, Othello, and games to play in the room. The place felt small and clean, and the owner greeted us with a kind smile. I'd recommend it when visiting Tateyama City, especially if you care about food. The meals were the highlight. Dinner came with eight kinds of sashimi, plus fish and meat dishes, and there was so much that I was surprised. The salads were delicious too, and I kept thinking, can salad really taste this good? The rice was shiny and tasty, so I suspect they choose it carefully. I was already full but kept eating, haha, I guess that happens to everyone. Dessert had spring colours, with warabi mochi and something like cherry blossoms, though I can't quite remember. Breakfast was great too. I found Cigal while looking for an affordable place in Tateyama City with good food. The reviews and photos convinced me to try my first pension in decades. When travelling with my parents, I probably couldn't choose a place unless it was barrier-free, but now that it's just the two of us, I can decide without worrying about that. There are two stainless steel baths that can be locked for private use. They're deep enough to soak up to your neck, with circulating hot water, and each could easily fit two people.

The staff were polite and helpful, and I liked that they sell handmade accessories at the counter. The bar stayed open until 11:00 PM, which was reassuring since the area gets dark and there aren't shops nearby. I'd stay again. The price was reasonable and the place exceeded my expectations. The room wasn't large, but two single beds left enough space to spread out my luggage. The bathroom was old, yet cared for, and the stainless steel tub was clean and deep enough to relax in. There was parking, toilets and washrooms on both floors, and two first-floor baths with changing areas that you could lock for private use. The first floor also had a shared fridge, used with a room tag, with drinks available to buy, plus a microwave and hot water pot. Three hair dryers were in the hallway. Board games and manga were upstairs, and there was a smoking area.
