The chat service was quick to respond whenever we asked for help, and the setting is lovely. But at roughly €400 a night, or €1200 (¥200,000) altogether, the villa felt far short of what we paid for. A few basics were disappointing: the pans were cheap, nothing stopped food sticking, and none of the lids fitted properly. The coffee machine was old and very basic. There were no included extras, and even using the sauna or borrowing a BBQ toolset cost more. We understand paying extra for a massage, but those charges felt ridiculous. After we complained, they let us use the sauna for half a day at no cost. The massage and private dinner cook weren't available until 18 August, by which time we would already have left. I don't understand why those services are advertised if guests can't book them during their stay. There were also no snorkelling kits, SUPs, or bikes to use, unlike at other places we stayed. We could have understood this at about €200 a night. For what we paid, we expected a lot more.

Wildlife around the villa was a treat, with geckos, butterflies, birds, and even goats next door. The view was amazing, and the villa itself is roomy with what you need to cook. Getting there was the awkward bit: the road is narrow, and the parking spot is steep.

The sauna, deck, and garden made it easy to have a great time, and the whole place felt relaxed and cheerful. We loved staying at Ryuku Villa, especially for its one-of-a-kind view.

I came away feeling refreshed in both body and mind. The hot pot was delicious, and between that and the sauna I felt as if my whole body had warmed up at a cellular level. The building and rooms had a sophisticated feel, with artistic pieces, music, scents, and all the other little touches. Its distinctive spot on Amami Oshima seemed full of the energy of the sun, moon, and earth. I'd love to come back. Thank you for such a wonderful experience♪

The rooms were clean and spacious, with a lovely atmosphere and the ocean close by. The setting is great, though getting around can be inconvenient. The nearest convenience store is a few kilometers away, and the roads on the way are narrow. Even if you're driving, I'd go with a small car.
