Villa Yurimun

The scenery was beautiful, and the hospitality was lovely!

I could see the stars clearly from the balcony, which was lovely. Still, I didn't get to appreciate the hotel properly because I'd booked a plan without meals. A heads-up for anyone booking through Jalan: they charge a cancellation fee starting 80 days before your stay, and they weren't flexible about it. I think it's better to choose a plan that includes meals.

Getting to the nearby coast was easy, and watching the sunrise over the sea was a wonderful experience. From the balcony the view was fantastic too. I stayed last autumn, and the food was absolutely delicious, especially the breakfast served in the room. The guest room had a cozy, slightly retro feel, and the charming building was soothing to look at from every angle.

The breakfast basket was left outside our room at 8am, and we set it up ourselves on the terrace. We chose this place mainly for that morning plate, and eating it with a sea view was fantastic. Before breakfast we took a lovely walk along the coast, and the sunrise from the terrace was beautiful. There was a tangerine orchard right in front, though I think we'd come a little late in the season. I love tangerines, so I took home homemade tangerine jam from Yurimun. We spent one night starting Sunday, April 9, 2023, in room [MORI]. There seem to be just three rooms upstairs. The building and our room were both cute, which put us in a good mood. There was no Wi-Fi, and we didn't use our phones much or watch TV, so it was peaceful and quiet. Dinner was downstairs. We had rockfish (grouper) carpaccio, broad bean and cumin soup, seafood paella made with the local catch, spare ribs with new potatoes from Tokunoshima, and dessert. I wondered at first whether the men would get full after the appetizer and soup, but the paella was generous and the ribs came after, so we were very satisfied. We enjoyed everything through dessert. The bathroom only has a shower, which could be tough in colder months, but it gave us the feeling of being abroad. I'd love to stay here again on a return visit to Amami.
