The meals were a real adventure for us. There were lots of courses in a private dining room downstairs, and we tried everything, even though many dishes were new to us. The wild boar, duck, and seafood were all wonderful, though we couldn't finish it all. Since we came over New Year's, Kadojin was the only place open in town. The post office ATM was available, but everything else nearby was shut. Our room, momonoma, had its own outdoor onsen for two and looked out over the garden toward the mountains. A little snow came and went, which made it feel even more special. The heated table facing the garden was an unexpected favorite, and we could hardly pull ourselves away from it. The room also had ductless mini split units and a space heater. Nights were quiet, and the beds were comfortable. This was our first ryoken and onsen stay, and the staff made us feel at home from the start. They helped us check in and carried our bags up as soon as we arrived. We had taken a train and two buses to get there. With luggage, I'd probably take a taxi from the train station next time, since the little buses don't have much room. We had such a lovely stay and would come back.

That kotatsu was so cozy in winter, it was hard to get up from it. Our room was huge and very clean, and the private onsen on the second floor is well worth trying if it's free. It doesn't cost anything when nobody else is using it. This was our first time at a ryokan, and the Kadojin team made a great impression. Everyone was so helpful and went out of their way to keep us comfortable. One kind Indian staff member spoke excellent English and carefully explained the facilities and the kaiseki dinner dishes. A lovely, welcoming place in the heart of Dorogawa.

I loved my stay here. If you can, go for a room with its own Onsen.

The food and service were both so good. It was well worth coming with family, and we'd happily come again.

The mountain food was simple but full of flavor, especially the wild boar hot pot, which I really enjoyed. The hospitality felt warm and genuine too. I chose this inn for a night in Dorogawa Onsen before going to Tenkawa Daibenzaiten Shrine. It's a popular place with just eight rooms in a charming wooden building that's been around for 350 years, so getting a weekend reservation can be difficult. The rooms are roomy and have private open-air baths.
