Kussharo Prince Hotel

The location is great and the rooms are okay. The staff can be curt and sometimes a little rude when answering questions, so don't expect much help or friendliness. It's a choice, but I'll think twice about Prince Hotels in the future.

The views from our room and the quiet, peaceful lakeshore are hard to beat. The hotel is in a great spot beside a beautiful lake, though it is showing its age. The hot spring bath is cramped and unappealing, and meals are served in a huge room with a huge buffet and limited food service. There aren't many choices in the area, but this site could have a much more splendid hotel.

Our lake-facing room had a great, relaxing view, and it was spacious, though a bit outdated. There aren't many reasonably priced hotels with lake views around here, so this one is fine. The onsen wasn't crowded, but its dressing room had a few bugs, both alive and dead. The hotel should improve that. We didn't have breakfast here. It was dark when we arrived, and there were no restaurants around Lake Kussharo, so we ate dinner at the hotel. The buffet had Chinese, Japanese, and Western dishes, but the taste and quality were so-so. At 5500 yen per person, it felt a bit expensive, though I suppose that's because it's a hotel restaurant.

If you're after a great sunrise or sea of clouds view at Tsubetsu Pass, this is the best proper hotel for it. The mountain and morning views from the hotel are astonishing. As of 2025, the Wi-Fi is extremely bad. The food is okay.
