時津ヤスダオーシャンホテル

I was in Togitsu Town on business and stayed for a night. The building looked old from outside, but it had been thoroughly renovated and I had no trouble staying there. The low price made me a bit nervous at first. Getting here from Nagasaki Airport takes about 30 minutes by high-speed ferry. There's apparently a discount for ferry passengers, but I didn't use it and bought a round-trip ticket. Tickets to Nagasaki Airport are available from the vending machine in the lobby of the Yasuda Ocean Hotel. The only issue for me was the shower: the water pressure was quite weak, and getting the temperature right was difficult.

The breakfast buffet has a pretty wide selection, and the room rate is cheaper than in the city. Free parking is another plus. The building is old, but since I only need a place to sleep, that doesn't bother me. The area by the front desk also serves as a waiting room for ferry passengers, which can feel a bit scary.

The supermarket nearby, along with Yayoi Ken and MK, makes the location convenient. The high-speed airport ferry pier is right next door, though, and at night you can hear it creaking with the waves, almost like a whale crying. It could scare children.

The ferry service right outside is a big plus. Yasuda Kisen runs the hotel and operates direct boats to the airport. There's also an oyster shack nearby that I really enjoyed, plus a large shopping mall. Buses come often, and while staying in the city would be ideal for access, this is as good as staying with relatives. Rooms are very cheap, and they feel worth what you pay. Guests can rent bicycles at low prices. I rode one to Nishikai Bridge, just under 40km each way, making it a four-hour round trip. I'm into cycling, so that distance was easy for me, though the hotel seemed a little hesitant when I brought the bike back. I was unsure about riding an electric-assist bike, but the low assist gave me about the same workout as a road bike, and I had a great time. The bikes are much better than the ones at Iojima, which seems to be the only rental shop in the city. Renting one means I don't have to worry about wasting time, and when the weather's bad, I'll go to Nagayo for the great hot springs. It's peak season, city prices are soaring, and this place has a direct partnership with Apa, so I ended up booking here. I'm from outside the prefecture and originally from Nagasaki City, but I don't know this area well. I was hesitant, but had no other options. I often come back for weddings, funerals, and memorial services. Lately I've stayed in hotels more because I feel uncomfortable at relatives' houses. This is definitely going to be my regular place from now on. I recommend it for people coming back home like me and for business travelers. It may not be as good as a city hotel for tourists, but it's much better than places in Omura City or near the airport, which can be the choices for business travelers who have trouble staying in Nagasaki City. I think people traveling for work from Tokyo will be impressed by the oyster shack. It's open until 9 p.m., and even if you only pay for the space, it's still pretty cheap, so it's great for solo travelers. I don't really want people to know this, but I used to travel for business a lot myself, so here's my tip.
