Yomogi Guesthouse

Shota, the owner, and his family made the stay especially lovely. They’re kind, knowledgeable people, and I really enjoyed meeting them and spending time at the hostel. Highly recommended. The house is over 100 years old and sits right in the pottery footpath area. It’s wonderful to hang out in, and there’s a farmer’s market, supermarket, and drugstore within walking distance. I stayed in a dorm bed with a tatami mat and futons. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully designed. One of the best stays I’ve had in quite a while.

I especially liked how this place brings together a family friendly feel and a youth hostel atmosphere. As a former backpacker with a baby daughter now, that combination meant a lot to me. The open kitchen and communal area also make it easy for conversations with other guests to flow naturally. The historic building has been renovated with care, and it feels modern, comfortable, and welcoming as soon as you arrive. I’ve stayed in many places around the world, and this is now one of my favorites. Shota and Elisa, a friendly Japanese-Swiss couple, have put a lot of love into it. Definitely book this guesthouse for a stay in Tokoname.

The place has a beautiful, artsy feel that fits right in with the area’s cafes and galleries. Shota, who runs the front desk, was super friendly and helpful, and his English is excellent. We came to Tokoname to see the town’s kilns, and this guesthouse was an amazing place to stay at night while exploring.

Elisa and Shota are lovely, welcoming hosts. We had a wonderful time in beautiful Tokoname and hope to come back soon. This traditional Japanese guest house is right on the pottery footpath. We had it to ourselves for a couple of nights, which was quite a luxury with so much space. The house has been recently and carefully renovated, with a fully equipped kitchen and air conditioning and heating.
