Hotel Senshukaku

The room was spacious enough for one person, and the renovated facilities were very clean. It’s a quiet place, less than a 10-minute walk from Tokushima Station, with a convenience store fairly close by. There’s also a restaurant one floor above the guest rooms, so food options are there. I was craving Tokushima ramen, though, so I went to a ramen shop near the station instead. I stayed without meals, and the price was incredibly reasonable for the quality of the room these days. The hotel is set inside a hall of some kind rather than standing on its own, which was a first for me. I’d stay here again if I get the chance to visit Tokushima. Back here for my second business trip stay. It’s a little way from the station, but the room was clean and well kept, so that didn’t bother me. I picked the Japanese breakfast and was very satisfied.

We had a plan with both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was just OK, while dinner was very satisfying. The people at parking reception and the front desk were polite.

I was really pleased with the daily special at Restaurant Juraku. The tempura was crisp, the chawanmushi had a strong broth, and the main dish tasted delicious, with a refined but hearty flavor. I also used the salad buffet and drink bar. At the buffet, I noticed someone speaking Chinese pile a huge amount of almond tofu on their plate, which surprised me a bit. Getting there was easy by car. I parked on the south side of Senshukaku after telling the manager I was going to the restaurant, and they kindly let me leave the car there. I went in through the north front entrance and took the elevator to the 10th floor. I arrived about 10 minutes early and waited in the front seat until opening. From my window seat I could see Mount Bizan, Tokushima’s heart. The city looked urban despite having no skyscrapers, and the mountain made the view beautiful. There was coffee and other drinks available to take home at the drink bar. I put a lid on my coffee cup to avoid spills and enjoyed it on the drive back.
