Agora Place Tokyo Asakusa

It’s tucked away somewhere quiet, and just a couple of minutes from the subway. The hotel is clean, and the staff are friendly and speak English. Breakfast comes in three options: Japanese, Western, or a vegetarian bowl. I really liked the Japanese and Western meals. The room gets cramped with two big suitcases, and the bathroom is on the small side. It could also use a hanger. Still, I was satisfied 😁

The room was okay, though the little closet doesn’t hold much. A few extra hooks would help, especially inside the bathroom door for a towel and on the wall outside it. A small luggage stand at the foot of the bed might also free up some space near the entrance. The shower door has a cracked seal on one side and doesn’t close tightly. Water can spill onto the floor if the shower head points toward the side where the door swings open. The walls are thin enough that I heard my next-door neighbor snoring all night, but people on my floor were otherwise quiet in the hallway. It’s handy having the Ginza line a few minutes away at Tawaramachi station, with a FamilyMart right next door. The staff were wonderful, kind, helpful, and able to assist in English.

Tawaramachi Station is an easy five-minute walk away, and the staff were welcoming. Guests can pick up a good range of free toiletries in the lobby, including toothbrushes and toothpaste, makeup remover, and facial cleanser. There are self-service laundry machines on the third floor, both newer and older models, which is handy for a longer visit. The rooms are the drawback. They’re extremely small, even compared with other well-known A-brand and T-brand chain hotels. The bathroom doesn’t have room for even a small bathtub, which could disappoint some people.

We visited in winter and stayed in the Premium Sky triple. By Tokyo standards the room felt roomy, although its layout was odd, and the restroom could have been bigger. The location is the standout, with popular tourist spots close by and easy connections to nearby areas. For the price, service was good. They offer the usual Japanese hotel conveniences, including luggage storage before check-in, lobby supplies, room cleaning, and breakfast.
