APRO STAY Shinagawa

We arrived after heavy snowfall and found stains on the sheets, plus a sour, foul smell in the room. We traced it to stains on the bins, then bought room fresheners at Donki, but they didn't help. When we asked the host for clean sheets, it took hours to get a reply. They said they'd bring some the next day, but those sheets were stained too and had hair on them. The heater barely warmed one small part of the room, so we were freezing in the snow. We ended up booking somewhere else. If your time, money, and hygiene matter to you, don't book here. There are better places.

The bed setup was a camper mattress on metal bunk beds, and we had painful bites from bedbugs in the duck down duvets, which need specialist cleaning. The hotel refused to take responsibility. We needed painkillers every morning and had to cancel several activities because the bites became infected and needed antibiotic ointment. They also wouldn't let us check on, even though all that was needed was code numbers and there is no reception. Avoid this place if you value your health and time.

It's contactless, with online check-in and a number sent to you for entry. The location was handy, close to the station, and there are three convenience stores nearby: Lawson, Family Mart, and 7-Eleven, so you can try a different one each day. I had trouble checking in and called from outside the hotel. Even though it was late and past check-in time, they kindly walked me through it and everything worked out. Just be aware, you need to speak Japanese if you have to call. You shouldn't need to unless there's an emergency.
