Base Inn Komagome

After two weeks here, I know the place inside out. Dust and the AC running continuously were issues for me, so I wouldn't recommend it if those bother you. Cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. It's the cheapest hostel in Tokyo, though, and if you're traveling alone and trying to save money, it may suit you. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere. Bring earplugs, karaoke is down on level -1.

The beds were comfy and had enough room, and the location was great, with nice places to visit close by. For the price, the stay was honestly fine. The general cleanliness could be better, though the toilet and shower were clean. Sometimes the neighbors were noisy, which was annoying, but that's not really the property's fault. I'd recommend it for a few cheap nights if you're not too picky.

I was there for 8 nights and only heard the karaoke downstairs once. It was very quiet, didn't wake me, and I fell asleep easily, though maybe I was just exhausted. The place looked generally clean. Towels and paper slippers were set out on the bed at check-in. Someone cleaned the shared area each night, and another person came by for housekeeping in the afternoon. The shower heater took me 5-15 minutes to get hot water each time. Maybe I didn't understand how it worked, since there were no instructions.

The station is really close, and the beds were fine and clean. For the price we paid, it was a good deal. There's always a clean towel around, plus free slippers, shampoo, and soap. The common area was okay, and the AC was set low, which was fine in the hot summer. Getting in was easy, and the person in charge was cool. Lockers would be useful, and the floor didn't look especially clean.
