I didn't find the road noise too much, especially for a hotel in the middle of a huge city. The place is modern, spotless, and nicely decorated for the price. Breakfast was really good, and the staff were polite.

The rooms are comfortable and thoughtfully laid out, and breakfast was good enough that I'd happily eat here every morning. I also liked the design touches, including murals from local artists and the playful look of the shared spaces. The hotel had only recently opened when I stayed, so everything still felt pristine. Check-in can get busy in the lobby, but the staff move things along quickly. There are plenty of little neighborhood spots to discover, and the hotel points them out on a bulletin board. Each room also has a magazine with designer places to visit around the Kabutocho neighborhood.

The room rate included breakfast, and we enjoyed choosing from the menu at the Talk Shop cafe counter. It's a bright, comfortable room with several kinds of seating. There's also a decent gym, plus an open lounge on the same floor. I wished I'd brought workout clothes. We stayed three nights at the start of our Japan trip, then returned for one more night at the end. The staff seemed to have settled in by late January 2026, a few months after the hotel opened in October 2025, and check-in and checkout were smooth. We had a King Bed, High Floor room. I knew when booking that Caption is Hyatt's Essentials tier, the lowest tier in its brand list, so I didn't expect it to match a Park Hyatt or Hyatt Regency. Some reviews compare it with other Hyatt hotels, but those brands are in different tiers. The room was bright, comfortable, and nicely furnished. We especially liked the roomy shower and the little sofa by the window. Heating worked almost too well: it was set to 25’c, which felt too hot, so we used the fan at 21’c instead. Cooling worked too, though I turned on AC by mistake for a short time. To reduce waste, the room has bath soap, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner, a kettle, mugs, two drip coffee filters, a small fridge, and a safe. You can pick up other things, like a toothbrush and toothpaste, from the amenities area downstairs by reception. I've seen this setup at other non-Hyatt hotels in Japan and think it makes sense. Instead of bottled water, there's a lidded jug in the room. Each floor has a dispenser with filtered hot or cold water, just off a hallway. Getting there from Haneda was straightforward on the Keikyu line to Nihombashi station, with no train changes, then about a five-minute walk from exit D1. The hotel lists this route too, though there are some stairs between the platform and D1. We used one escalator but still had to carry our suitcases up and down steps. Tokyo Station is about a 15-minute walk. On Sunday, a taxi back to the airport took around 20 minutes. Ginza is a short walk away. The location worked well for us, and I'd stay here again.

For the price, I expected more. The location is handy for both the train station and Ginza, and the hotel is new, clean, and nicely designed. The staff were friendly too. As Globalists, we've stayed at a lot of Hyatts, including in Japan, but this was our first Caption. It's a more basic setup, with self-service bath amenities and breakfast. The points or cash rate feels high for what's offered. Globalists get just two breakfast choices, Western or Japanese, and the Japanese option's “fish of the day” stayed the same for all four days. Don't count on a suite upgrade either: there is only one suite, and you can't apply suite upgrades to it.

Housekeeping straightened the room but didn't really clean it. A stray watermelon seed on the bathroom floor stayed there for four days. There isn't an on-site laundry service either. Clothes go to an outside company, which ruined and shrank some of ours, and sorting it out was a hassle. The location is very good, and the upper-end rooms are decent and nicely decorated. But the service was awful for what is meant to be a Hyatt. At an international chain, staff at reception should have at least passable English. They weren't courteous and loudly grumbled to each other in Japanese over simple requests, like seeing a room before check-in or asking which room might be quieter. The street is known to be noisy, and there's a police and fire station nearby, but every question seemed to bother them. We also had a major misunderstanding about late checkout fees after requesting late checkout by phone that morning. Communication in English was terrible.
