COCOSHUKU Asakusa Kuramae

Our family of five found the apartment spacious for Tokyo, clean, comfortable and well equipped. It has two toilets and one shower, and there are plenty of mini marts and a few cafes nearby. The neighborhood is quiet, though Asakusa’s busier area is only one train stop away or a 15-20 minute walk. The station is close, too. The only drawback was not being able to leave our luggage before check-in or after checkout. We’d happily come back.

Check-in wasted time we could’ve spent in Tokyo. There’s no reception, and if anything goes wrong you have to call. We got stuck with other guests at the entrance trying to get in. The whole system is a mess. I wouldn’t book this hotel.

The laundry room was clean and simple to use, and the room itself was spotless, with enough space for our family in a great location. The toiletries provided were good quality and generous enough for a long stay, so I didn’t need to bring my own. I just wish it were clearer how to arrange a mid-stay cleaning. I sent a request through the “contact us” form and never heard back.

The location worked well for our plans, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and the area was generally very quiet. The staff were kind about our requests, especially when we asked for fresh towels. For four of us, two adults and two kids, the room size was fine. But it wasn’t clean when we arrived: dust covered the surfaces and there was hair all over. There were no cleaning supplies, so I used tissues to pick up dust from the floor. I think a room cleaning request costs another 6,000 yen. The bed and pillows also didn’t suit me, and I had trouble sleeping for the first three of our seven nights. It’s affordable for the location, but unfortunately I probably wouldn’t stay again.
