The price was cheap, but that was about the only plus. I found dried leftover food in the common areas and dirty socks from a previous guest in my bed, so the staff need to do a better job cleaning. The hostel also isn’t laid out well. The upper bunks are cramped, and getting in or out could be difficult if you’re a bigger person. Another guest talked on his phone all night. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The common area was great, the facilities were nice, and the staff were very friendly. The automatic lights in the dorms switch on at a set time, and the curtains don’t block the light on the top bunks, which was a problem. I also got extremely warm at night and couldn’t control the heat. I had a good stay, but those things could be improved.

The annex where we stayed had a small bar and food service, and both buildings have washers and dryers. It costs about 600 yen to wash and dry a load. I also appreciated that a bath towel was included, since many places in Japan charge extra to rent one. The hostel itself was nice and quaint. Check in at the main building by the train tracks. Just be ready for roommates coming and going noisily at all hours; I was woken several times, morning and night. Earplugs are available if you want them.

The staff were polite and really helpful, and the shower and toilet facilities were top notch. The dorms looked stylish and were clean, though the beds weren't the most comfortable. They did feel discreet, at least. There's also a good-looking bar on the main floor with several drinks on tap.

The showers were clean and comfortable, but the bathrooms themselves are tiny. The ones in the lobby or lounge have more room. For drinks, the vending machine on the corner is cheaper than the one by the door. If you're larger, consider booking a bottom bunk since climbing up and down can be tricky, though the top bunk is cooler. The bunk area can get hot, especially with the curtain closed, so you may want to sleep in shorts in case you need to open it for some air.
