Hotel Asakusa KANNONURA

The room had a balcony looking over the area's small buildings, which gave it a bit of a realistic anime feel. The beds were good, if not the best, and the A/C worked perfectly. There was also a kitchen, handy if you're traveling with a child. The bathroom really stuck with me: it was my first time using a Japanese WC, and the seat felt like my mother lovingly wiping me as a baby. The toilet room was black, with one warm yellow light shining down while you used it, which made me think of Tanizaki and In Praise of Shadows. Asakusa felt like a lovely place to begin my first trip to Japan, and it wasn't too packed with tourists. There was no reception, but the very kind staff used a translator to explain everything, including where to find extra towels. It was a great first stop, and I'd definitely return and recommend it.

I came with a few friends for a Tokyo vacation, and we all loved our stay. The staff were extremely polite and helpful, including with finding good food and entertainment in the neighborhood. The room service menu was exquisite, and I’m already looking forward to it next time I’m back. Our rooms were beautiful and had everything we needed, with plenty of space, very clean interiors, comfortable beds, and a balcony. I highly recommend this place. 15/10, and I’ll definitely be back.

The design is nice, and the rooms and shared spaces were clean. From the balcony you can catch part of the Sky Tree tower. Staff communication was easy and efficient, and the Wi-Fi got noticeably better during my stay, so it seems they upgraded the network. Check-in is self-service, which is convenient. I did notice some wear and marks on the walls if you look closely, so they could use a refresh, though it wasn’t very obvious. Still, I think the hotel deserves five stars. I enjoyed my stay.

Getting around was convenient, with easy public transport and local attractions nearby. My room was cozy and well equipped, too. I had a positive stay and would gladly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant, convenient place to stay.
