We made a mistake and booked a "Double Room - Smoking" for 17-21 March 2026. When we checked in, switching to a comparable non-smoking room would have cost another 32,000 JPY, over half the original 57,176 JPY booking. We thought that was unreasonable since both room types usually have similar prices online. We weren't asking for a free upgrade, just a fair answer to a health-related concern, so I can't recommend the hotel based on this experience. We said more than once that we'd stay in the smoking room if we could get fresh air. There was no fresh air, though, and the window levers had been removed. When we asked about it, we got three different explanations within minutes: windows don't open, they open only for cleaning, and they're kept shut for "security." The manager on duty at this international hotel in a Tokyo business district spoke no English and gave us only scripted, "templated" responses, without trying to find a solution. We were also told we were "the first to complain." The lack of flexibility, empathy, and clear pricing was deeply disappointing. I want to acknowledge that the booking error was ours, but the hotel's response felt highly unprofessional.

Good for the money, with convenient rooms, though they feel dated. There are lots of convenience stores around, but the neighborhood isn't especially lively. Tamachi station is about a 10-minute walk, then Mita station is a few meters farther, making it easy to get around Tokyo. The room has a western-style bath and shower curtain. A Japanese-style bathroom would've been better.

Breakfast was good, and the subway was about a 12-minute walk away. The room, though, was so small we could barely open one large suitcase. The hotel is old, which may explain the odd bathroom smell. We couldn't open the window, understandable given how high up the room was, but the AC wasn't good either and I felt hot the whole time.

We were happy we'd changed our minds about staying in shinjuku. This area was much quieter and wasn't overwhelming in the early mornings. tamachi station was a five-minute walk away, and the yamanote line got us to most places we wanted to visit. Other destinations were easy to reach with Tokyo's excellent public transport. We'd highly recommend staying here and would come back. We booked 10 nights, from the 12th to the 22nd of January 2025. Because of our flight times, we arrived early and the friendly team showed us how to use the lobby baggage storage. After a walk toward the Kawasaki headquarters and then onto tower, we returned for the 2pm check-in. They checked us in promptly, with no problems, and we could rest for a couple of hours after our 14-hour flight. We had no issues with the staff or the cleanliness of the rooms and shared areas. One day, a few cheap items were broken during cleaning and our stamp book disappeared, which we presumed had been accidentally binned, but it wasn't worth making a fuss over.

The only real advantage was being close to the yamanote line. We stayed at the end of our Japan trip and rented two rooms for our family of 3, but I don't think the hotel was worth what we paid and wouldn't recommend it or stay again. The place felt dated, and the rooms were quite dirty and stained. Breakfast was okay, with few options and the same menu throughout our 5 day stay. Our rooms were hot and stuffy despite it being cold outside in early January. There was no ventilation, the windows wouldn't open, and we couldn't control the thermostat. We tried leaving the doors open in the morning to catch air from the hallway, since the stairwells were open, but staff called to say we couldn't do that. So we spent the whole stay in what felt like a hot box. There weren't enough outlets, and the ones provided were in odd spots, not beside the beds. The shower never got very hot, the wifi was incredibly weak and kept cutting out, and the beds were uncomfortable.
