Hotel Monterey Ginza

Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of Western choices, and the rooms are spacious by Japan's standards. The hotel is peaceful, right in the heart of Ginza, with several train stations about five minutes away in different directions. If you're looking for nightlife and Izakayas, another area may suit you better. Nothing to complain about for our stay.

This was a very convenient stay for the price. Shopping and food were easy to get to, and the service was simple to navigate for English speakers. The staff were very nice, checked on us every day, and made check-in and checkout hassle-free. The location is great in Tokyo, especially for first-time visitors. The room size was quite decent for Tokyo. We couldn't have asked for more at the price we paid. Nothing shocking or difficult, just an easy stay with good value.

The location is top notch, in a beautiful area that feels especially atmospheric on an evening walk. Our room was cleaned daily, and the thoughtful touches made us feel cared for: pajamas, a coffee machine, kettle, and mini fridge, plus face masks, body and face care products, and sleep masks at check-in. The bathroom was good, and the room had space to move around, which is more than you often get in Japan. We paid extra for breakfast, and I'd come back for that alone. It runs from 6:30 to 10:00 am and has a buffet with seafood, fresh omelets, a pancake machine, fruit, salads, cheeses, beef, desserts, and pretty good coffee. Definitely worth the money. At 12000yen a night after tax on a weekday, this was good value. The room has an old Western style and a large Western bathtub. It is aged, but well maintained, with a comfortable firm bed. A good choice if you need to stay in Ginza on a budget, and better than budget hotel chains despite costing less. The small lobby gets very crowded at check-in, so arriving later in the day is best.
