Hotel Oriental Express Ginza West

The rooms are small, but the service is amazing.

The room’s been renovated, though it still feels a little dated, and the amenities are minimal. The area seems to have a somewhat poor safety record, but I was only there to sleep, so it wasn’t an issue for me. I got an affordable stay thanks to the reopening special offer. I don’t know how long the campaign will run, but the price was lower than other hotels nearby. I’d recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind minor details and just wants a cheap place to sleep.

The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself was clean and beautiful. The rooms felt a little bigger than usual. There’s a coffee machine on the first floor that’s available 24 hours a day, which was perfect for a hot cocoa after a long day shopping. They even included bath salts, a thoughtful touch. The neighborhood can feel a little...unique at night because there are so many izakayas nearby 🤣. It might be a bit much with children, so I’d recommend it for people without kids! 🤣🤣

The staff were really friendly, and you can pick up amenities in the lobby. There are lots of restaurants nearby, making it a great spot for going out for a drink at night. There are plenty of office workers around. If I book somewhere in the Ginza area again, I’d definitely stay here. The rooms are small, as you’d expect from a Japanese business hotel, and better suited to one person than two. With two guests, opening two checked suitcases would be very difficult. There’s a handy 110V outlet right by the bed’s headboard. You have to walk past the bar district, so it can be a little noisy, though the area around the hotel itself is relatively quiet. It seems to have been renovated and opened as a new hotel, but doesn’t seem well known among Koreans. Most guests I saw were Chinese and Western. It’s a shame it doesn’t show up well in Korean Google searches.
