Hotel Risveglio Akasaka

The location worked well for us, about 20 minutes from Shibuya and half an hour from Akihabara. We were happy with the hotel and chose our room for its size. It was an okay size for us, and we could crack the window open a little for some fresh air. There wasn’t much privacy around the bathroom. It’s separated from the room by glass, with curtains to block the view, but sound carries. The fridge also started making a loud fan noise after two nights. Reception replaced it promptly, without any fuss.

The room was a decent size, bigger than I expected from what I’d heard, and we could open three suitcases at once. It was very clean, with daily housekeeping. The location in Akasaka was handy, four minutes from the station, with plenty of places to eat and a 7/11 across the road. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. One person gave us great food tips, and another helped arrange luggage transfer to our next hotel. The translation screen also made Japanese-English communication much easier. The heating and AC are controlled for the whole floor, so room temperature depends on what others want. One female staff member was unfriendly and hard to approach. Even so, I’d stay here again.

The shower was spacious and had great water pressure, and there was room to leave a large suitcase on the floor as well as put the other bags away. The hotel and room were beautiful. Staff were friendly, and it was very convenient for restaurants and the tube. I’d definitely come back.

Akasaka had a pleasantly slower pace, while still being just a short train ride from lots of Tokyo attractions. The location made a great base for exploring, with a breakfast place next door and plenty of good restaurants within a 2-5 minute walk. The rooms are small and laid out in an unusual way, but they worked for us and had what we needed. We barely interacted with the staff, though they were always polite. We had a great stay and would definitely return.
