Nishitetsu Inn Shinjuku

The staff were really friendly, and breakfast had mostly local food with a few continental options. My room was surprisingly warm and quiet despite the chilly February weather. It was a little dated and small by European standards, definitely small by US standards, but it worked well for me. The location was great, too.

I left my wallet in the room after checking out. It had been turned over to the police as part of the usual procedure, which made things more complicated at first. The hotel staff took it seriously and were genuinely sympathetic. One staff member kept in touch and followed the case through, got the wallet back from the police station, and arranged to have it sent straight to my hotel. They handled a difficult situation with a lot of care and professionalism, and I was impressed by how far they went to help. I’m very grateful, and would highly recommend this hotel.

This is more of a bed-and-breakfast kind of place than what I’d call a hotel. It’s cute and very minimalist, with a 7/11 and a 100 yen store nearby if you need something. Breakfast isn’t included in the payment, so you have to pay for it separately at reception. I’d recommend it for a business trip or for sightseeing, when you won’t be spending all your time indoors.

The rooms are small, but the staff and service are excellent. They provide breakfast vouchers for the cafe inside the building, which cover a croissant, sandwich, and drink.
