The Millennials Shibuya

There’s a lot to like about The Millenials, Shibuya, especially how easy it is to walk to the Shibuya Crossing, Meiji Jingu Shrine and Takeshita Street. The staff welcomed me warmly, spoke great English, and made me feel I could ask for help if needed. Free basics like slippers, hair ties and hair brushes were handy. Breakfast impressed me: omelet, sausage, yogurt, granola, sliced fruit, different breads, tea and coffee, and juice. The shared space was good for relaxing, either by yourself or chatting with other guests, and I met some nice solo travelers. I felt safe leaving my things there and using the small lockbox for valuables. Most of the time it was quiet, but some guests were noisy, rummaging through bags and banging the shades at 5am. How well you sleep depends on who else is staying, though that’s not really the hostel’s fault. A light under the bed would have helped me see into the storage drawer and read the lock safe code. I had to use my phone torch. The shelf was too high for me, lol, and a side shelf would make it easier to set things down. I’d definitely recommend staying here and would come back.

You’re close to all the fun of Shibuya here, but away from the scramble and chaos. It’s literally half a block from Shibuya Parco and Spanish Steps!! When my washing machine wasn’t working right, a staff member helped quickly and stayed to check it was running properly. It felt like an upgraded hostel. The bed was comfortable and wider than a standard twin, and I liked the fan in the capsule. Toiletries were available near the front desk, and the bathroom and toilets were reasonably clean.

This is a good budget option when you’re out exploring all day. I was surprised by how comfortable and convenient it was. The pods are quite comfortable, especially if you’re traveling light. I had a large and a medium suitcase, and both fit under the bed; everything else went on the shelf above. The bathrooms and showers were very clean, like in a traditional hotel room. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The electric beds and light controls are a nice feature, and I like the concept. I’d welcome more chances to sign up for a night out and socialize at a local bar. There’s only one per month at the moment. Breakfast was good, but I’d have liked more variety. It was quiet apart from one night when a guest arrived at 2:30am and woke people up while arguing with someone I think was an unauthorized guest. They should enforce quiet hours better.
