J's BackPackers Guest House - Hostel

The hostel is so far out that what you save on the bed gets eaten up by the daily trip to and from the city. At least the courtyard gives travelers somewhere to commiserate about the conditions. This may be the worst hostel I've experienced. Go somewhere else, unless you want a stay so bad it becomes almost funny.

The quiet neighborhood is the one thing I liked. I didn't try the kitchen because it looked disgusting, and I wouldn't recommend it. The bathroom and toilet were worse, and I couldn't tell if they'd ever been cleaned. Even the AC looked dirty inside, and it only runs in occupied rooms. It was extremely hot there. I don't understand why the owner keeps the place going. How can anyone live like that? A guest house should be cleaned every day, everywhere, not be like a cartoon under a bridge. Spend a little extra and you can get a private room in a nice guest house.

It's nowhere near worth it. The hostel is a long way from the city center, and the Tokyo daily transport pass won't cover the trip because of how far out it is. There are two bathrooms in the whole place, but the owner uses one of them, as well as the only shower. That shower was filthy and awful. The photos don't show how bad it really is and make the hostel look much better than it is. The living room in the pictures is closed off because the owner lives there. The place is deplorable.

It's not luxury, and it's a long way from the main areas, but for the price the service is fine. I don't think it's as awful as some of the other reviews make it sound.
